Janne Andersson left the Swedish national team – and football for good?
Now he reveals his four requirements that must occur if he is to continue his coaching career.
– I’m hungry, but picky, he says in “Morning in P1”.
After seven years as national team captain, Janne Andersson resigned last fall. In total, there were 47 wins in 94 games for Andersson as coach of the Swedish national team, with above all great success during the start of the stay.
Reveals the requirements
However, Janne Andersson’s last time on the coaching bench was mostly about criticism, and the results dropped significantly after the European Championship 2021, when Sweden went out against Ukraine. Since Andersson left Sweden, he still hasn’t taken a new job, and now he opens up that his coaching career may be over.
– My coaching career… It is not at all obvious that it is over, but it is also not obvious that I will continue. We’ll see, says Andersson in Förmidag in P1.
Janne Andersson believes that there has been interest in him, but that he has four requirements that must occur in order for him to jump on a new assignment.
– It’s like this: If I’m going to take on a new coaching assignment, there are four things that must be fulfilled, and that is that it must be something new, and it doesn’t have to be so damn exotic, but something new. And then it should be a sporting tickle, but it should be possible to make sensible results, of course, he says.
“I’m hungry, but picky”
Janne Andersson also wants to bring “colleagues”, presumably assistant coach Petter Wettergren.
– Then bring someone or a few colleagues, so you can be a group that does it together. And then a good economy, he says.
So far, Andersson has not had all the demands met on the offers he has received.
– All four parts have not been fulfilled to one hundred percent yet, and therefore I have not taken a new job. I’m still hungry, but I’m picky, he says.
