TAMPERE. Jani Nyman frolics on the outdoor ice of Sorsapuisto in Tampere. Nuorukainen’s workplace, the Tampere arena, is just a stone’s throw away. Nyman, 19, has shown this season that he is comfortable in the bright lights and in the role of the decider. The striker leads the entire league in goals with 13 hits in 25 games before Friday’s TPS.
How does the first place in the goal exchange sound?
– It sounds incredibly good. The games have started to roll well for the team, the chain and myself, says Nyman.
He is currently playing in the hottest chain in the series Emeli Finland and Oula Palven with. Finland was the most effective player in the SM league in November (5+8) and Nyman (7+3) was the fourth most effective. Last month, the service increased the balance to 3+6.
Nyman is excited about the chain.
– It’s absolutely insane to play with two of the best players in the series.
The third run is not bad either. Nyman uses his big size (192 cm/94 kg) to his advantage and knows the most difficult skill in hockey, i.e. scoring goals.
No less than 11 of his goals have come from equalisers, and Nyman is not a one or two trick wonder.
– I can score so-called ugly goals in front of the goal and control pucks. In this series, you have to be versatile if you want to score goals. The level is that hard.
Nyman doesn’t specifically mention his good shot, but it’s at least a deterrent at the league level.

Sports expert Top Nättinen has been impressed with Nyman’s moves in the fall season. Nättinen draws attention not only to Nyman’s powers, but also to his mature playing and character.
– You often see young people who are good in their own area of strength, but other areas are leaking. Nyman handles everything well. As a goalscorer, he rarely gets frustrated, doesn’t swing his stick or shout the v-word.

Nyman’s goal is to play in the NHL in the future. Last summer, he signed a three-year rookie contract with the NHL club Seattle Kraken.
– The reservation was a really big deal for me. And the first NHL contract was the fulfillment of a new dream. When I got the name, it meant to be sensitive, Nyman expressed.
The question about the prototype gets a quick answer from the player.
– Mikko Rantanen. When you look at his game, you’d like to be as good as him one day. He is so comprehensive, knows how to pass and can score goals.
Nyman has the same traits – he can play hockey.
Ambition drives you to improve every day. As a goalie, Nyman is exceptionally hardworking and has no diva antics.
– Dreams can be achieved with hard work, he insists.
Nättinen raises physics and skating as development targets for top promise. Nyman says the same.

If everything goes as well as it has so far, Nyman can compete for Ilves’ team leader Timo Peltomaan with for an important title.

– Yes, “Tinke” still holds that title, football manager Nyman, who grew up in Valkeakoski, acknowledges.
