Jan encountered 120 kilos of wild boar – and a fight for survival

During a hunt in the Scanian forests, Jan Andersson was suddenly attacked by a 120 kilo wild boar. Thanks to the heroism of his dogs and the quick action of the hunting team, Jan could be saved – but it was a fight for his life.
– It went so quickly. I was only thinking about protecting myself and avoiding the dangerous predators, says Jan.

Jan Andersson was out hunting with his dogs when he came to a clearing. There stood the wild boar – big, heavy and ready to attack. Before he could react, the animal rushed straight into his leg. The tackle threw him against a tree, and he ended up on the ground with the boar standing over him.

– I remember raising my arms to protect my stomach, neck and head. I just thought I had to survive.

The dogs as heroes

In the midst of the chaos, Jan’s two dogs, together with another dog from the hunting team, came to his rescue.

– They flew at the wild boar and managed to get it away. Afterwards, they stayed by my side the whole time, until help came. It’s impossible to describe how grateful I am, says Jan.

Jan was seriously injured and could not get out of the place by his own machine. The hunting team had to use a chainsaw and moose sled to get him out of the dense forest. Although he now hobbles along on crutches, he feels enormous relief at having made it.

– My dogs really saved my life. Without them, I don’t know how it would have gone.
