The former politician and now entrepreneur Jan Emanuel Johansson is currently in Spain.
But the journey there was not the easiest.
Jan Emanuel about the trip with Ryan Air
The problems already started at check-in on the airline Ryan Air’s website. In a post on Facebook, Jan Emanuel says that it was not possible to check in, whereupon the staff at Arlanda asks him to go to the Aviator at terminal five.
“They inform me that I have to pay because I’m late with check-in. But I can’t do that there, but at terminal 4. Of course in an unpleasant and condescending way that says that I have to understand that it’s the obvious way “, writes Jan Emanuel.
“Totally pointless”
Once at terminal four, the staff informs that there has been a misunderstanding, so he must take his pick and pack back to terminal five. However, Jan Emanuel avoids it for a sum of money, but has to go to baggage claim to get a proof of payment which he then has to show at check-in because they didn’t have a printer at the Aviator.
“When I get to the baggage claim they say I haven’t paid. After ten minutes they find me and I get the paper/certificate so I can run back to the fifth. Since I bought a “Priority” ticket I get to go in first at the gate. But only up to a locked door. After a while, when they’ve let everyone through and it’s insanely crowded (i.e. completely pointless with Priority), a member of staff opens the door.”
As a priority, Jan Emanuel gets to go first, but does not get further than a rope. As it is outdoors, he stands in the cold for 15 minutes. By then, the remaining passengers have managed to stand behind him. In the end, Jan Emanuel gets to step on.
The travel agency warned Jan Emanuel
Jan Emanuel summarizes in two paragraphs his experience, and takes the opportunity to throw a boot at the airline staff at Arlanda:
“They must have made an effort to find staff as rude as Ryanair has at Arlanda. The ones at Aviator were rude, but the ones in baggage claim were on a new level. For a while I thought it was a hidden camera because they were so unbelievably ugly” , he writes, adding:
“It was instructive. The travel agency warned me, but I wanted to try. Friends said Ryanair was really bad. I thought, they can’t be that bad. They were much worse than that.”
Jan Emanuel’s last advice?
“Never go, as in never ever with Ryanair.”
