The involvement in the newly launched Folklistan means that S demands that Jan Emanuel leave his former party.

But according to Jan Emanuel, he is not thrown out of his former party.

– I continue to be a social democrat with pride and joy, he says.

On Monday, Jan Emanuel and Sara Skyttedal launched their new political initiative Folklistan. The aim is for the candidates to enter the EU Parliament after the elections in June.

Shortly after the launch, the Social Democrats, which is Jan Emanuel’s party, raised the demand that he should leave the party.

Jan Emanuel says that shortly after the helicopter sortie after yesterday’s launch, he contacted his party.

– We went to the place that was just right for me to contact my party to do what we agreed on, that I should take a time out from the party.

Contacted the party leadership

According to Jan Emanuel, he has previously had a dialogue with S about the possibility for him to continue being part of the party, despite his involvement in Folklistan.

He further says that that dialogue must have been conducted with the party’s leadership.

Jan Emanuel refutes the claim that he would be expelled from S.

– I am certainly not thrown out of the Social Democrats. I contacted the party leadership a long time ago and told them what was going to happen and we checked the possibility for me to remain in the party when you are on a list, much like a church election.

“With pride and joy”

According to Jan Emanuel, S’s party statutes should not allow the arrangement that he wanted.

Thus, he has now taken a timeout with the option of being able to rejoin the party at a later time.

– I continue to be a social democrat with pride and joy, but I will not be able to be part of the party organization during the time that I have a commitment to Folklistan, says Jan Emanuel.
