James Bond finally has to start kissing men

James Bond finally has to start kissing men

I grew up with James Bond. As a child, I watched breathlessly as Pierce Brosnan gracefully and brazenly maneuvered his way out of one dangerous situation after another. Later, Daniel Craig won my heart as the broken, life-scarred 007. According to James Bond 007 – There is no time to die No more Craig’s depression bond, but of course the legendary film series continues. The figure seems to me – and I say that as a fan! – pretty much told.

Actually, if things have to continue, only two options are really interesting: James Bond returns to the over-the-top Brosnan era and brings Jason Statham, the perfectly silly action hero, on board for this position. Or you can use the already announced rejuvenation of Bond to explore a really new facet of the character: 007 as a bisexual secret agent.

The films already indicate: James Bond has been bisexual for decades

Before anyone complains about supposedly “woken” gender madness or whatever: I’m not making up the fact that James Bond has already had sexual relationships with men or is at least not averse to the idea. The topic comes up several times in the films.

According to the men’s magazine GQ, for example, in the film James Bond 007 – GoldenEye, it is difficult from today’s perspective not to read the central interpersonal conflict as a gay separation story. Bond (Pierce Brosnan) meets ex-00 agent Alec Trevelyan (Sean Bean), who says, among other things, about his past with 007: “James and I shared everything together.”

In my eyes, James Bond has always been defined by a homosexual love affair – that sexual tension between 007 and the villainswho do absolutely everything to bring their favorite opponent close to them and sometimes even give him the right outfit for the big confrontation.

The moment from James Bond 007 – Casino Royale comes to mind when Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen, who admittedly can build sexual tension with any creature or object) admires the naked body of the tied up 007 and himself concentrated on his genitals with his torture methods.

Or the scene from James Bond 007 – Skyfall in which supervillain Silva (Javier Bardem) is about to tamper with the agent’s private parts. He suggests that this is probably the first time Bond has had this kind of sexual experience with a man, to which he replies unmoved: “What makes you think this is my first time?”

Just loving Bond girls makes no sense for the action legend 007

Yes, of course the answer could be a psychological warfare tactic. Maybe GoldenEye-Bond and Alec were just very good friends and the “all” that was shared were classic heterosexual male things like lukewarm beer cans, motorcycle calendars or jokes about how much you hate your wife.

Daniel Craig’s final appearance as Bond in No Time to Die

OR you simply allow the thought that super seducer and bon vivant James Bond has already had same-sex erotic experiences. Actually, it would be more like it strange if that were NOT the case – in all the years of tactical seductionbeing heavily drunk and hanging out with super villains in fancy brutalist buildings.

Daniel Craig’s Bond has shown a whole new, vulnerable side of the legendary agent. His successor has big shoes to fill and, after decades of 007 history, there are few aspects left that can really revolutionize the action formula. In any case, the fan base doesn’t just consist of people who cling adamantly to the supposed ideal image of a man who is touched by nothing except strong drinks, big guns, expensive cars and eternally young companions.

Therefore, dear Barbara Broccoli, the person responsible for the legacy and future of my favorite secret agent: Don’t rest on the fact that you have the best name in all of Hollywood, and give us a man-seducing Bond!

Let’s only regret one thing in retrospect: that Bi-Bond didn’t have his proper coming out during the Daniel Craig era.
