Jakob Ingebrigtsen challenges himself with a half marathon Sports

Jakob Ingebrigtsen will line up at the starting line at the Copenhagen half marathon on Sunday.

Norwegian runner Jakob Ingebrigtsen is facing a new challenge tomorrow, Sunday, when he steps to the starting line of the half marathon in Copenhagen.

On Saturday, the competition organizer confirmed Ingebrigtsen’s participation, which had already been rumored earlier this week.

Ingebrigtsen has not run a half marathon before. He says that he is looking forward to being able to test himself on a distance of more than 21 kilometers.

– Normally, this is a trip that would suit my training very well. But it’s exciting to see if I can even finish, after a long season of working on the track for the 1,500m, the Norwegian reflects on the event in the bulletin.

Usually, Ingebrigtsen competes at middle distances.

During his career, the 23-year-old Norwegian star has achieved numerous championship victories in both 5,000 and 1,500 meters. The last thing he did was hang a gold medal around his neck after the 5,000 meters at the Paris Olympics.

At the end of August, Ingebrigtsen set a new world record for 3,000 meters with a time of 7:17.55.

In Copenhagen, Ingebrigtsen is being harassed by, among others, Uganda Jacob Kiplimowho broke the world record time of 57.31 for that distance in 2021. According to the race organizer, Kiplimo’s goal is to beat the current world record time in Sunday’s race.
