Jakob Hall, 16, was murdered with a large number of stab wounds when he was on his way home in Örkelljunga.
Two young people were sentenced in the district court for murder.
Now the Court of Appeal acquits the one boy of murder and at the same time lowers the sentence.
Jakob Hall had just gotten off the bus in Örkelljunga on the night between January 13 and 14 this year and was going to walk home after a party.
As he was walking through an underpass, two masked youths appeared and attacked him. Jakob Hall was stabbed 17 times. When he arrived at the hospital by ambulance, his life could not be saved. During the night came the death notice.
Two boys, 15 and 16 respectively, were charged and sentenced in the district court for murder. The older of them received two years and ten months of closed youth care, while the other received two years and four months.
The verdict was appealed and on Tuesday the Court of Appeal announced:
The 15-year-old was acquitted of murder and sentenced instead to aggravated assault. The penalty was youth care with a youth contract.
The district court verdict against the 16-year-old was upheld.
According to the court, the two convicted boys planned the attack long before January. On the night in question, they found out where Jakob Hall was and armed themselves for the attack. The motive must have been jealousy. The investigation shows that Jakob Hall spent time with a girl with whom one of the boys had a relationship.
