16-year-old Jakob Hall was stabbed to death when he was going to follow two girls home from a party. A boy of the same age is arrested on suspicion of murder.

Now his mother tells Aftonbladet exclusively about her son and the grief after him.

– I fought for 10 years before he came. He was my nugget, says Camilla Hall, Jakob’s mother.

16-year-old Jakob Hall from Örkelljunga was stabbed so badly on the night of Sunday that his life could not be saved. A boy of the same age has been arrested on probable cause on suspicion of murder.

Here, Camilla Hall, Jakob’s mother, talks about the deep sorrow for her son.

– The worst thing is that before I got pregnant, they said I couldn’t have children. I struggled for 10 years before he came. He was my nugget. As they have taken away from me, says Camilla Hall, Jakob’s mother.

On the night of Sunday, Camilla received a call from another parent in Örkelljunga. He told me that Jakob had cut himself with a knife and was taken to hospital by ambulance. Shortly afterwards, the police came to the home of Camilla and her partner. Then the world collapsed.

– He was my everything, says Camilla and begins to cry.

Wanted to carry grocery bags

As Aftonbladet has previously told, the knife attack occurred when Jakob was walking on Hallandsvägen in the direction of Laholmsvägen. Several informants tell Aftonbladet that he was in the company of two younger girls, 12 and 14 years old, as well as another friend.

– He was going to follow the girls so that they got home safely because it was late. He always did that. That’s how Jakob was, says Camilla and continues:

– He was the most polite young man in this village. Everyone knew him. He could approach acquaintances in the grocery store and ask: do you need help with the grocery bag?

Camilla cries during almost the entire interview. Sometimes the words come in spurts. At the same time, she wants to talk about her son – of whom she is so proud.

Camilla describes Jakob as a gentleman.

Almost a little old-fashioned in some respects. But there was also a hint of play inside. A mischievous side that Jakob picked out to amuse and lighten the mood. Like the time he donned a spotted deer outfit and posed for the camera.

– He was the most wonderful person in the world – with his heart in the right place. A real clown – he made everyone laugh, says Camilla and continues:

– He always asked everyone how they were doing. He cared.

Jakob’s father: “Everyone hugged”

Camilla says that Jakob loved basketball and had a dream of becoming a professional basketball player.

– He played basketball every day. It was his lifelong dream.

Another long-standing dream was to study law.

– When he was little, he wanted to become a lawyer and move to the United States. I don’t know where he got it from. It was a dream that was far away but still there.

A bit into the interview, Jakob’s father Jimmy Kastberg – Camilla’s partner – also talks about his son.

– The people in the village here tell us that the atmosphere is so gloomy now. He was so popular and ran and hugged everyone and asked if they needed help with bags, says Jimmy Kastberg, Jakob’s father.

Two boys were arrested on Sunday on suspicion of murder. One of them was later released but a 16-year-old boy is still being held on probable cause. According to information to Aftonbladet, the arrested boy is a childhood friend of Jakob Hall.

One of the police’s hypotheses is that it is a conflict between the 16-year-old and Jakob.

– There is nothing to indicate that the crime is connected to conflicts between criminal networks or organized crime, says Mattias Sigfridsson, head of Police Area Nordvästra Skåne.

According to Sigfridsson, the arrested 16-year-old is not known to have had contact with any criminal network or known for previous violent crime.

Surprised by the huge support

When Aftonbladet’s team was on site in Örkelljunga on Sunday evening, around 50 candles were burning at the murder scene. Friends of Jakob and residents of the community had tied flowers along the handrail that stretches under the viaduct at Hallandsvägen. Cards and handwritten notes sent him a final greeting.

The turnout after the murder has been great, says Camilla. She wants to thank everyone in Örkelljunga for the care they have shown the family. She is surprised at how many people care.

– It warms that he was so popular. Everyone cares and regrets. From the checkout staff at Coop to our colleagues and his own friends.

Jakob Hall was 16 years old. He is mourned by his mother, father, little sister, relatives, friends and a large number of acquaintances.

The family has given Aftonbladet permission to publish Jakob’s name and picture.
