Jacquemus and Nike have just revealed the latest drop from their collaboration. To represent this collection, the brands chose an American athlete with an impressive track record.
Jacquemus and Nike do it again. The two brands have signed a new collection, available now on the Parisian house’s website and from March 5 in certain Nike stores. The star piece of this drop? THE Swoosh Baga handbag in black, white or pink leather, which reproduces the shape of the logo (called “swoosh”) of the sports equipment manufacturer. “At the end of 2020, when we started working on the bag The Swoosh, I was obsessed with the Swoosh itself. It’s a unique logo, I wanted to reinterpret it, make it minimal and iconic”, explains Simon Porte Jacquemus. He pursues : “In my opinion, the Swoosh is the quintessential Nike logo that transcends all generations and collections over the years and decades.”
The rest of the collaboration, deliberately unisex, also includes devoured jogging pants, chocolate sweatshirts, immaculate leggings, draped bralettes and a new version of the sneaker J Force 1, the Air Force 1 revisited for several seasons by Jacquemus. In all, 29 pieces sold between 75 and 420 euros.
Sha’Carri Richardson, muse and world champion
Observers recognized her long nails and her tattooed arm in the teaser orchestrated on social networks by Simon Porte Jacquemus. It’s now official: Nike and Jacquemus have called on American athlete Sha’Carri Richardson. The campaign shows the 2023 100m and 4x100m world champion dressed in the capsule’s flagship pieces, alternately statuette or sporty in full training.
If Jacquemus chose the athlete to represent his creations, it is because he was, like many, amazed by his charisma, his attitude and his performances at the world championships in Budapest last August. . Sha’Carri Richardson made her comeback after being suspended by the American federation during the Tokyo Olympics for cannabis use. For her part, it was the audacity and elegance of the designer’s creations that seduced her. “From the colors you wear to the risks you take, fashion can be a way to show the world a little bit of who you are.”, she confides in a press release. Let us hope, for the one who is the great hope of the American delegation at the Paris Games, that the gold medals which it should glean on the track of the Stade de France go right into its Swoosh Bag brand new.
