The former Djurgård goalkeeper Jacob Widell Zetterström has joined the national team.
Last summer, the moving team went to English Derby County – where he got to take over Frank Lampard’s old house.
– It’s really cool and very big to live in his old home, he says to Sportbladet.
2019 moved Jacob Widell Zetterström26, back to Djurgården after a short stay in IFK Lidingö. He was then back in the club he belonged to during his boyhood years. In total, it was almost six years in the first team before he moved to The Championship, England’s second highest division, this summer.
Made success in the Championship
The goalkeeper, who was taken out in Jon Dahl Tomasson’s squad to face Slovakia and Estonia in the Nations League, has been playing at Derby County for two months. He has kept four clean sheets in the eight games he has played, and he is already declared the first goalkeeper.
– It has been great. I have really felt great at the club since I got there. It was no secret that it was emotional and special to leave Djurgården, where I had been for almost my entire life. But from the first moment in Derby I have enjoyed myself as much as possible and really enjoyed myself. There are fantastic people who work at the club, it’s beautiful around Derby as well and then it’s not the world’s biggest adjustment to come to England either, he tells Sportbladet.
In order for him to quickly acclimatise to life in Derby, the club has helped him with accommodation initially. And it’s not just any home that he’s been allowed to move into. It’s the English Premier League legend Frank Lampard’s old house. He is of course best known as a player at Chelsea, but after his active career he has had a number of coaching jobs. Among other things in Derby County in 2018-2019.

– Yes, the club has put me in Frank Lampard’s old accommodation. It is part of a house. It’s really cool and very big to live in his old home. He is probably Chelsea’s best goalscorer of all time, says Widell Zetterström to Sportbladet.
“Probably would have laughed and gone”
For SVT, the national team goalkeeper develops his thoughts about the powerful residence.
– It feels incredible to live in that accommodation. I don’t feel like I’m qualified to do that. But yes, it is special, he says.
When asked what he had said to someone who claimed, a few years ago, that he would live in Frank Lampard’s house in the future, he has a clear answer.
– I would probably have laughed and walked away for a bit.

Powerful, to say the least, to be able to take over the residence of such an icon. Good for you Jacob! Enjoy your time in England and good luck with the national team game ahead.
