Armand Duplantis will soon enter the Olympics.
And Jacob Hård doesn’t hold back when he talks about the pole vault star’s favoritism.
– It is not possible to have a bigger medal jump, he says.
Armand Duplantis is only 25 years old but has already won everything there is to win. In the Diamond League, he has been completely unstoppable for several seasons in a row, and nowadays the Swede wins pretty much every single competition he competes in.
Huge gold favorite
But Duplantis also has an almost rare ability to be at his very best, when it matters most, and he has, to say the least, shown that in major championships so far. Duplantis not only wins gold on a regular basis, he is also usually in top form just in time for the competitions, and it is not infrequent that he breaks new records when it matters most.
Armand Duplantis will soon enter another Olympics, this time as the reigning gold medalist. The pressure on him is enormous, but at the same time there are many who believe that he is one of the biggest favorites of the entire Olympic Games. Duplantis usually gets over six meters with ease, and it’s a height that few of his competitors can reach even on a good day. In addition, Duplantis is very rarely injured, and he has shown super form before the big highlight of the year.
Hard’s giant tribute
But how big of a gold favorite is he really, and is there any risk of overestimating him? The SVT profiler Jacob Hård believes that this is not the case, as he singles him out as Sweden’s greatest hope for gold, and he does not immediately hold back in his judgment about the star.
– Armand Duplantis is undoubtedly the biggest Swedish medal hope in the Olympics. It is not possible to be a bigger medal hope than he is, says Hård to SVT’s website.
Jacob Hård believes that Duplantis is in a league of its own, almost without any competition.
– If he jumps normally, there is no competitor who is at his level, quite simply, says Hård.
