Jack Teixeira is sentenced to 15 years in prison for the Pentagon leak

22-year-old Jack Teixeira has previously pleaded guilty to all charges.

The case has been called “the biggest national security case in years” by American media.

Before he was sentenced, Jack Teixeira pleaded excuse for their actions.

“I want to say how sorry I am for the damage I caused.”

Worked in the defense

Jack Teixeira got access to the documents when he started working with IT security within the US defense.

In 2022, he was reprimanded several times for his handling of classified information.

At least 15 people are said to have been disciplined after an investigation found they knew about Teixeira’s handling of sensitive information but deliberately failed to report the security problems.

The defense: Wanted to refute misinformation

The intention was never to harm the United States, according to Teixeira’s defenders during the trial.

“His purpose was to educate his friends about world events to reassure them that they were not being misled by misinformation,” says Michael Bachrach, reports AP.
