As recently as July announced Jack Russell on Instagram that he was forced to put his music career on the shelf after suffering from dementia.
Great White had its heyday during the poodle rock wave of the 1980s and toured with Guns N’Roses, Whitesnake and Iron Maiden among others. With the song “Once bitten, twice shy”, the group had their biggest success on the charts.
Jack Russell from Great White dead
Great White broke up in the early 2000s, but just a few years later, Jack Russell started touring again and playing the group’s music. During a concert in Rhode Island in 2003, a fire broke out that claimed the lives of 100 people, including Russell’s guitarist Ty Longley. 230 people were also injured in one of the worst fires ever in connection with a concert in the USA.
Flammable insulation in the ceiling and walls around the stage was found to be behind the fire being able to spread so quickly. In subsequent trials, the band’s tour manager and the concert venue’s two owners were sentenced to long prison sentences.
Jack Russell initially thought of ending his career after the fire, but changed his mind and continued playing. Among other things, he did a charity tour for the benefit of the survivors of the concert fire.
Jack White turned 63 years old.
