According to Region Sörmland, the decision is based on the fact that there is a “significant risk to patients’ lives, health or personal safety”.
The region broke its agreement with the health center earlier this year, partly due to the lack of a specialist in general medicine, which is a requirement. However, certain activities, including tests and health checks, have continued to be conducted on the premises.
“We have acted by terminating the agreement with the health center after we discovered and pointed out serious shortcomings in the business,” says Mats Henningsson, head of Hälsoval Sörmland, according to a press release from Region Sörmland.
The health center has sued the region for gross breach of contract since the agreement was broken earlier this year. The case will be tried in court, according to SVT Nyheter Sörmland.
