IVO starts supervision – after Kalla Fakta’s review

The Inspectorate for Care and Care, Ivo, will begin a targeted inspection of beauty clinics that perform surgical procedures.

The announcement comes after Kalla fakta’s review revealed major flaws in aesthetic care.

Ivo’s new review begins with immediate effect. About 20 clinics will receive targeted supervision and both notified and unannounced visits by the authority.

– We have been able to see serious shortcomings for patient safety, says Sofia Wallström, IVO’s director general to TV4.

The inspection will take place across the country. Preparations are now underway and then there will be inspections at the clinics.

The authority has previously carried out targeted supervision of actors who offer aesthetic injections such as fillers and botox. There, criticism was directed at all audited businesses.

Permanent damage

In the program The beauty and the clinics reveals the cold facts that it is the large beauty clinics, which market themselves with safety and security, that have the most registrations with Ivo.

Almost half of all reports concern serious and permanent injuries. Often it is not possible to see exactly what happened on the operating table, as many clinics use pre-written templates in the medical records. In addition, it happens that the clinics try to silence their patients, through agreements with high fines.

– I think the review is very important and Ivo sees the same picture. It shows that the supervision we are now starting with is very necessary. This can be associated with danger to life, says Sofia Wallström, general manager at Ivo to TV4.
