In a police report, which was previously secret, it appears that several HVB homes are run and staffed by criminals.
Now the chairman of Sweden’s municipalities and regions, SKR, sharply criticizes the supervisory authority Ivo.
– The situation is extremely, extremely serious. Our view today is that Ivo is not up to his task, the Authority needs to be strengthened, says SKR chairman Anders Henriksson (S).
“Must have team support”
It has been seven weeks since the police issued a press release with information from the report, but despite this, the homes have not been closed.
– We must have legal support to be able to close HVB homes. We can’t just close, says Tommy Hansen, Acting Director General of the Swedish Care Inspectorate, in Aktuellt.
Do you have the necessary tools?
– No. We are working to strengthen Ivo’s legal conditions and to strengthen collaboration and cooperation with other authorities. We must also strengthen the internal conditions.
When will the HVB homes run by criminals close?
– I cannot stand here and promise that we will close that home, that date. We have never worked so intensively against criminals and rogues.
