Iveco Oto Melara wins tender for armored vehicles in Brazil

(Finance) – The Iveco – Oto Melara consortium he won one contract for the supply of armored vehicles to the Brazilian army relating to a potential of 220 armored vehicles for a value of 2 billion euros. “A result that demonstrates the excellence of Italian industry in the world and the excellent teamwork – commented the Minister of Defense Guido Crosetto – An applause to the General Secretariat of Defense and the Italian Embassy in Brazil for having been able to represent at the the nation better.”

The Brazilian Army has in fact selected the Centauro II 120 mm system of the Italian consortium company as first classified in the acquisition process Viatura Blindada de Cavalaria Média Sobre Rodas (VBC Cav – MSR 8×8). The Centauro II armored vehicle is an 8×8 wheeled system equipped with 120mm armament.

The consortium company Iveco – Oto Melara was born in 1985 with equal participation of Iveco Defense Vehicles, a company of Iveco Groupand of the former OTO Melara, currently Leonardo. Within the consortium, Iveco is responsible for all vehicular components, while Leonardo is responsible for weapon systems, vision systems, command and control communications.
