One in Stockholm – and the other in the Czech Republic.
The Jihde brothers will work together for the first time with the broadcasts of the men’s ice hockey World Cup.
– Getting to do it together once. It’s a dream, says Niklas Jihde.
Both have previously been presenters for the Ice Hockey World Cup, but for the first time the Jihde brothers will be able to guide the Swedish viewers through the championship together. Niklas from the studio in Stockholm and Peter from the studio in the Czech Republic.
– It is very big and responsible. Mainly because it’s a sport we’ve enjoyed since we were little, says Peter Jihde.
The brothers did not skimp on the smiles, jokes and laughter when Viaplay presented its line-up for this year’s WC broadcasts.
Crazy for work
But the duo also became nostalgic.
– In 2008, when I was first asked to work with the Ice Hockey World Cup, I had decided to 99 percent that I would decline, says Niklas Jihde.
– I was very new to the industry and was a bit too scared for it. But then I called Peter who said: “You’re leaving”.
The little brother ended up being convinced and went to Quebec. Niklas Jihde then continued to work with the Ice Hockey World Cup until 2011.
After that, the luck would pass to the older brother, who became a presenter for TV4’s broadcasts in the following years.
– We have had a fine tradition, says Niklas Jihde.
Being brothers in the same industry has its advantages. For the former floorball star Niklas Jihde, older brother Peter’s tips were useful when the sports career was exchanged for a life in the television box.
– He has taught me a lot. Everything really, says Niklas Jihde.
Now striking back
But they are tired of the insinuations that Peter Jihde is the reason why little brother gets top job after top job.
– I’ve been told it any number of times, that I’m in the business because Peter took me in, says Niklas.

Big brother replies:
– You brought yourself in. We have made the same journey from the beginning when we were small and got to talk on the local radio. It runs in the family, says Peter.
They only look as far as the sport they are now covering for examples of sibling pairs who have chosen the same path.
– This is often the case in ice hockey. There are many pairs of twins and brothers who have played together. It’s a cool tradition to be able to do it in the TV box too.
