Tick bites create fear in the spring every year. Although being in touch with nature is good for people, tick bites are intimidating. Every year, many people die from tick bites. For this reason, it is necessary to be conscious about tick bites. Assoc. Dr. İsmail Altıntop warned citizens against tick bites; “We advise our citizens to check their bodies when they go to a rural area, and when they detect it, they should come to the emergency room without panicking, irritating or touching them, and start treatment,” he said.
TICK BITS ARE PAINFUL, SO IT CAN BE DIFFICULT TO DISCOVER
Warning the citizens against tick bites that can be seen with the warming of the weather and the increase in humidity, Assoc. Dr. İsmail Altıntop stated that a few days may have passed when the citizen noticed because the tick bite is painless; “Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) is the transfer of the parasites carried by the tick to the body due to the sting or the situation at the bite site. Tick bites can be seen generally in humid environments, meadows and rural areas. Tick bites are painless. Individuals do not notice a tick bite because it is painless. when they realize it, it may have been a few days. This is a dangerous situation. When they detect the tick, they should not remove the tick themselves. Because when the needle stays in it, it can cause a serious reaction, which can progress to serious allergic reactions. We remove them with the method and send them for examination when we deem necessary. However, when patients come, we ask for a blood count. We look at whether there is a decrease in platelets in the blood count, and we arrange their treatment by referring them to our polyclinics. If the patients are in the 1st Level Health Institution, they must be sent to the 2nd Level Health Institutions. This is where our experts come into play. When necessary, the patient needs to be isolated and hospitalized and there is a long follow-up period. In this respect, I suggest our society to be conscious about this issue and to check their bodies when they go to a rural area. When they are detected, we recommend that they come to the emergency room and start treatment without panicking, irritating or touching them.
