Its the star of desserts everyone is snapping it up

This little dessert has been a sensation since the beginning of summer and it’s not very expensive.

Fancy a sweet break? This pastry has been a real hit in France and around the world for a few weeks now. And let’s not lie to ourselves, a good meal without a good dessert doesn’t have the same flavor and when it can cost less than two euros, the whole family can enjoy it.

This star? It’s the famous muffin from the Olympic village that has been the buzz for several weeks because of an athlete, the Norwegian Henrik Christiansen, who has been posting videos on social networks and especially TikTok to advertise this muffin, well known by students who eat it regularly thanks to the Crous for less than a euro in some academies, but around 2 euros in others.

On July 25, when the swimmer posted a video of the dishes he had tasted since arriving in Paris for the Olympics, he described an “incredible” muffin, giving it a score of 11/10. What followed was a real craze, so much so that even we journalists received a press invitation to taste it…

Every day, the athlete published content about this muffin, which was distributed at a rate of 2,000 copies per day during the events. Once the Olympics were over, did this craze end? Well, not at all! A New York coffee shop carried out a great communication operation by reselling these little cakes made by Coup de Pâtes, a French industrial supplier.

As Le Parisien reports, the Isshiki Matcha store managed to sell 300 muffins imported from France in less than a day by opening a pop-up store dedicated to the latter. But there was a problem, and this angered many people on the social network X, the chocolate muffin was sold at an exorbitant price of $10.89. Some customers even waited two hours to taste it.

To justify such a price, Kelin Carolyn Zhang, who initiated the project with Angel Zheng, the founder of Isshiki Matcha, justified the significant price difference to BFMTV: “We had to pay for the various customs authorizations, the customs broker, the last mile delivery with a refrigerated truck.
