“It’s still not enough”

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

Patch 12.13 released the new champion Nilah in League of Legends. It’s a short-range AD carry, but it has a really strong passive. However, she was so strong at release that a nerf followed within 24 hours. But the complaints about Nilah still don’t stop. There were also other problems with the patch.

What’s up with the champion? Nilah is an AD carry with a default range of 225, putting her on par with melee fighters like Aatrox, Fizz, or Hecarim. However, she can temporarily increase her range by using her “Q”.

Nevertheless, Nilah has a hard time due to the short range on the botlane. To compensate, Riot Games has come up with some interesting mechanics that you can read through in full in this article. The most important:

  • Through her passive, she shares 50% of experience on minion kills, which is normally lost on sharing. This applies to them as well as other allied champions. So that you always play with a support on the botlane, both get more experience points.
  • Heals and shields of allies are also strengthened via the passive. Here, too, she benefits immediately with the right support.
  • Nilah can also become temporarily immune to basic attacks (“W”) and has the ability to leap to enemies (“E”).
  • These abilities and the strong attributes to release caused Nilah to be way too strong.

How strong was Nilah? 24 hours after release, Nilah had a 52.4% win rate across all leagues (via lolalytics). That’s not gigantic, but for a champion that basically no one can master, it’s extremely dangerous. Riot Games saw it that way and immediately brought a nerf.

Riot brings a nerf, but it doesn’t go far enough for many

How did the developers react? A new patch was released on July 14th that made some adjustments to Nilah:

  • Base health reduced from 590 to 570
  • Base armor reduced from 30 to 27
  • Increase in healing from passives reduced from 10% to 7.5%
  • Increase in shields from passives reduced from 20% to 15%
  • Q boosted attacks reduced from 110% to 100% damage
  • Q bonus attack speed reduced from 15-65% (based on level) to 10-60%
  • E cooldown increased to 26/22.5/19/15.5/12 from 24/21/18/15/12
  • However, these adjustments do not go far enough for the players, after all, even after the update, it still has a win rate of 51.6%.

Nilah already got several nerfs on the test server, including for the attack speed of the “Q” and the damage of the Ultimate.

What are the players asking for? some. For many players, the nerfs don’t go far enough. Unhappy_Window briefly commented on the hotfix: “It’s still not enough, in my opinion.”

The biggest point of criticism is the experience gained through the passive. She ensures that Nilah and her support almost always have a level advantage, regardless of whether the early stages are going well or badly for them.

Some players report on reddit that Nilah can reach level 6 almost a minute before her opponent. For 60 seconds, Nilah’s player has access to the ultimate ability “R”, resulting in an advantage in a head-to-head fight but also pressure in the lane overall.

Reddit user Chejsarn calls for a completely new passive for Nilah:

In my opinion, one of the worst feelings in this game is being behind in levels. You feel so useless when you are 2-3 notches behind your opponent’s ADC and of course that happens in every game against a Nilah. I’ve never made a post here to complain about anything, but when Nilah comes into lane with an ass full of extra experience, that’s where it crosses a line.

Other players complain that you can hardly see Nilah’s “W” (via reddit). The criticism here is that for a block of attacks, Jax throws his weapon up and spins, while Nilah only gets a blue effect. This should be difficult to see, especially with the new “Star Guardian” skin.

In LoL there are generally some skins that cover abilities, which according to some Pay2Win makes them.

While the “W” is easy to spot in a quiet environment, it can also mark allies and quickly becomes nearly invisible in teamfights.

Patch 12.13 brought many balance issues

What else was problematic about the update? A hotfix was released on July 13th in which Gwen and Sivir were slightly weakened. Sivir got a small rework in Patch 12.13, but it made her way too strong.

In addition, on July 15th there was the third patch since the release on July 13th, which included adjustments to the new game mode “Ultimate Spellbook” and a buff for Senna.

However, Senna is also heavily criticized, which is why the buff surprises many:
