Anders Limpar was invited to buy a car with Peter Forsberg.
Then he got the shock of his life.
– I was very surprised, he says.
Peter Forsberg is not only one of our very greatest hockey players of all time. He is one of the most popular, and anyone who has been a teammate or close to Foppa can attest to what an incredible person he is. Foppa has always had his feet on the ground, never forgotten where he comes from, and has always had humility as one of his strengths.
Unexpected friendship with Limpar
In terms of scoring average, Peter Forsberg is one of the NHL’s best players of all time, and had it not been for the injuries, mainly to his foot, he would have been even higher in various rankings and top lists. But Foppa still had an incredible career, with two Stanley Cup titles and enormous success with Tre Kronor. One who can attest to Foppa’s enormous greatness both on and off the ice is national team icon in soccer, Anders Limpar.
Limpar is best known for his years at Everton, and the national team, but also played for the Colorado Rapids, while Foppa was in Colorado.
– We hung out a lot, I saw a lot of hockey and he was at least ten of our games. Foppa is very interested in football and cheers for Tottenham. So we also sent a number of slips between each other when our teams met, says Anders Limpar to Expressen.

“So typical Peter”
Limpar remembers one incident in particular, when Limpar got to go car shopping.
– One day Peter called and asked if I wanted to go with him when he was going to buy a car. I thought: “wow, now I get to drive a Lamborghini or something cool,” he says.
But instead something completely different happened. The humble Peter Forsberg, who knew huge money in the NHL, chose a slightly different type of car than Limpar had imagined.
– I was surprised. Then we walked around there and Peter found a used pickup truck. He was very happy, “I’ll have it”. I just: “huh???” He could have bought the whole car business, he bought a used pickup truck. But that’s so typical Peter. He is so down to earth. So genuine, he says.
