“It’s really crazy”

Last season was Linn Svahn’s best according to herself.
At least given the conditions.
– We had to mix and match with trying to create magic from very little, says Svahn.

In February 2021 fell Lynn Svahn, 23, during the World Cup sprint in Ulricehamn. The fall took such a toll on her shoulder that the then 21-year-old Svahn was forced to undergo two operations on her shoulder in the fall and winter of the same year. With that, she missed the entire 2021/2022 season.

Svahn about last year

Last year, Linn Svahn was back on track, albeit still affected by the shoulder injury. She was unable to take full advantage of the pre-season, and she did not participate in the World Cup until January. But Svahn made it to the WC in Planica, and her season ended with a World Cup victory and two fourth-place finishes in the WC.

The 23-year-old talks about the difficulties with last year’s season.
– Last year it was more about trying to deal with a decline, while this year it’s more about constantly pushing the limits to get better. And that’s how you want to continue in elite sports, that’s how I want to continue in my career. I don’t want to have to deal with injuries and think ‘what can we do today, what can’t we do. What can we do tomorrow, what can’t we do’ all the time, says Svahn.

Thanks to the coaches

Linn pays tribute to her coaches for what she still achieved.
– Last year we had to mix and match with trying to create magic from very little, and it took a lot for it to succeed. But somehow we managed it, to get in as good a fight as possible there for the championship, and fought in every race I entered. It’s something I could never have done without Ola (Ravaldcoach) and (Anders) City current (national team coach) above all. What we did last year is really crazy.

There are years where Svahn took more medals and podium places than last year. But she still holds last season’s highest.
– I would probably put last season as my best ever based on the conditions I had when I started competing. I am very proud of that. The level I was at at this time a year ago was terribly bad. I stand with a completely different background in having been able to train what I wanted now only since the season ended.

“Very safe and great fun”

The Östersund resident is now looking forward to entering a new season with a hundred percent pre-season behind him.
– I want to set a goal and then work towards it. A goal I believe I can achieve, and this year we were able to do it. We have done very, very well this summer and early fall. There is still a lot to do, but it feels very safe, great, and above all great fun to be in the place where you can only focus on developing, says Svahn.
