Wednesday’s party leader debate is in full swing. Here are the quotes that stand out so far:
Jimmie Åkesson’s break (SD):
– I’m speechless. You’re standing here talking nonsense, straight up nonsense. It is shameless, says Jimmie Åkesson in his opening speech in the party leader debate in the Riksdag.
The statement comes after a long silence on the part of the SD leader, which probably made some people wonder if he had forgotten what he was going to say.
The speechlessness was directed at S-leader Magdalena Andersson, who in her speech said, among other things, that Sweden has become more dangerous and the Swedes poorer compared to a year ago.
Something that, according to Jimmie Åkesson herself, she should take some responsibility for.
Märta Stenevis (MP):
– It is as if large parts of this chamber are sitting and sleeping, she says and continues:
– They are uninterested, uncommitted. Someone is sitting and taunting. This House and this Government are behaving like children being called upon to do their homework. They pretend they don’t hear. But now it’s time to wake up, you can’t pretend anymore.
The MP spokesperson’s criticism is about the climate crisis, including the summer extreme weather events in many places.
Magdalena Andersson’s theft (S):
The S leader snorts Jimmie Åkesson’s rhetorical grip by being silent for a long time before she too says that she is speechless.
– It is a completely shameless claim that Jimmie Åkesson makes, she then says due to a heated exchange between the two party leaders about how Sweden should solve the Koran crisis.
Johan Pehrson and the plastic bag tax (L):
Magdalena Andersson criticizes the government on several occasions for spending more money on abolishing the plastic bag tax than on stopping new recruitment to the gangs.
The Liberals’ party leader picks up the thread:
– I don’t remember whether it was you or we who were in favor of the plastic bag tax. But now it has to go! But the question is whether we should become members of the euro, he says, making both Ulf Kristersson and Ebba Busch start to laugh.
Magdalena Andersson retorts that she was in the negotiation room and that the plastic bag tax was then an important issue for the Liberals.
