Manse PP beat Jyväskylä’s Kirittäret in the third final. Elli Kattelus’ breakthrough brought victory to Tampere in the second period.
Manse PP narrowed the women’s final series to 1–2 on its home field, when it beat Jyväskylä Kirittäret in the third final 2–0 (3–2, 5–4). The series continues on Sunday in Jyväskylä from 2 p.m.
The people of Tampere had their backs against the wall, because Kirittäret was one victory away from the Finnish championship. Mansen’s soaring number one tip as well Elli Kattelus however, were not ready to end the season at home.
– We did not come to surrender. We knew all along what bangs were enough for. We don’t think too much about the situation, but we progress one game at a time, Kattelus commented to Urheilu.
Kattelus hit the clincher of the second period in the fourth inning, when his heavy shot went through the back. 1+3 runs decisively took Manse PP. to a 5–1 lead.

– I went looking for a bold solution and it produced results, Kattelus said.
With permission plate comb
Despite the victory, there are big question marks in the Tampere team’s game. Sacristan Senni Sallinen started the game with free kicks, but later collected himself.
However, in the last inning of the second period, Sallinen’s pass did not stay on the plate. First, with five wrong passes, he gave two in the open air into the home net.
– The situation should be calmed down now. It’s hard for Senni. I don’t want the finals to end in such a way that four runs are given in free innings, Mantere stated after the last inning.
Manse cleared the field, after which Sallinen gave free kicks again. Hence Susanne Ojaniemi got to the third and later home for free. Kirittäret was already at the end of the run.
– This is painful to watch. I wouldn’t want any match to end like this.
After this, Sallinen himself left the plate and Jasmin Andreanen took over the locker duties. Sallinen was finally included in the joker trio, because according to the rules, a player who has been hit by a plate is compared to an injury.
– Feeling relieved that this didn’t fall into Sallinen’s plate comb. Manse played a better game and deservedly won, Mantere stated.
– It didn’t happen at all. As a team we go. All’s well at the end, all’s well, Kattelus was content to comment on the final moments.
The Iron Age shone
Along with Kattelzu, the brightest star was the super-fast one Saga-Angelia Raudasoja. He brought in three runs, collected five top batting points with brilliant shots and burned the forwards with his high throws.
