It’s official, Rockstar Games has finally announced the release date of the very first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto, the famous GTA 6. The opportunity to answer the most frequently asked questions regarding this highly anticipated game.
For more than twenty-five years now, video game fans have witnessed the evolution of a license like no other: Grand Theft Auto (GTA). Released in 1997 then in 1999 on PlayStation 1, the first two opuses had difficulty convincing the general public. It was not until 2001, with the release of GTA 3, that Rockstar Games has managed to find the right formula. The famous developer had in fact offered a 3D game in an open world in which players could carry out various activities such as driving, infiltration or even shooting and theft missions. And, after more than ten years of waiting, the video game developer and publisher has announced big news: the trailer for the next opus in the saga will be revealed this Tuesday, December 5.
In a message published on X (formerly Twitter), Rockstar Games has indeed revealed that the first trailer for the upcoming GTA will be available this Tuesday, December 5 at 3 p.m. French time. To be one of the first to see it, we recommend that you follow Rockstar Games news on social networks. Very active on X, the developer publishes all the information concerning its old games, but also its projects. It is therefore very likely that the trailer will be revealed on the social network. At the same time, we also advise you to closely follow the official Rockstar Games account on YouTube. Even if nothing is confirmed yet, there is a good chance that the publisher will publish the trailer on the streaming platform.
When is the GTA 6 release date?
This is the question that most arouses the curiosity of fans of the franchise. Unfortunately, Rockstar Games has not yet communicated on this subject. The release of the first trailer could then be the perfect opportunity to specify the release date of the game. In the meantime, it is still possible to make estimates since a financial document sent to shareholders by Take-Two Interactive, the company which head of Rockstar Games, has indicated that colossal sales are expected in fiscal year 2025. In other words, this could suggest that GTA 6 will be released at the end of 2024, or even at the beginning of 2025. You will therefore have to be patient before playing the next opus of the franchise.
Here again, Rockstar Games has managed to keep the mystery absolute. Because, yes, even if it has become common to talk about GTA 6, the name of the next installment has not yet been revealed. As a reminder, the developer had only mentioned “the next GRand Theft Auto” when the release of the trailer was announced last November. What platforms for GTA 6?

The CEO of Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick, recently indicated that video games were not sold expensive enough to consumers. He indeed suggested that the value of video games, assessed by “their production cost and their lifespan“, was “underestimated by buyers”. With such a statement, players expect a higher price than for current new games, which are often sold between 70 and 90 euros.
Which city for GTA 6?
In its previous opuses, Rockstar Games had developed several virtual locations largely inspired by real cities. For example, Los Santos in GTA 5 recalled Los Angeles, San Andreas referred to San Francisco, and Vegas or Liberty City to New York. To believe one leak dating from September 2022, GTA could make its comeback to Vice City, which is a city inspired by Miami. Who are the characters in GTA 6?
If initially Rockstar Games was used to offering a single playable character, this changed with GTA 5. In fact, the license had developed three characters as different as each other. And, after being immersed in the adventures of Franklin, Trevor and Michael, players could play a Bonnie and Clyde-style couple. According to certain leaks that have gone viral on social networks, GTA 6 would immerse players in the daily life of Lucia, a woman from Latin America, and her companion, Jason.
What gameplay for GTA 6?
Regarding gameplay, official information is still very rare. However, the next game GTA should be an improved version of its predecessor. Indeed, fans of the license should find an open world, even larger than that of GTA 5 and with an exacerbated freedom. Players should find even more varied missions and activities, but also an even more precise game. Thanks to the performance of the latest generation consoles, Rockstar Games could offer more realistic gameplay with better animations, more advanced artificial intelligence, a more complete environment or even the introduction of a real weather cycle.
