She had been expected for a long time, it is now official. The government has just announced the date of sending the famous energy check, more than 5 million French people benefit each year. Usually, this financial aid is paid in the spring, allowing households to pay some of their winter invoices.
But in 2025, it will change! We will have to wait much more due to a technical modification postponing the date of sending the check. Solicited for several weeks on the subject, the Ministry of Economy did not advance on the new calendar, simply indicating a postponement to the “second half”. The deadlines have finally been set and it is not necessarily good news for the budget of the poorest.
According to a statement from the administration, the sending of the first energy checks will only take place in November, seven months later as usual. As usual, eligible people will have no procedures to do. The shipment will be automated. “A list of beneficiaries will be established by crossing the information held by the Directorate General of Public Finance (DGFIP), data from public electricity distribution network managers (GRD), and those of electricity suppliers”, details Bercy.
However, for people who believe they are eligible and who have not received it, a complaint platform will be set up online and a request may also be made by mail.
This delay in the calendar could worry households with fragile finances. Because the check, with a maximum amount of 277 euros, allows them to finance part of their electricity or gas expenses. Weight economic support that will lead to a hole in the budget.
To limit the consequences, the ministry asked energy suppliers “to be flexible with regard to potentially eligible customers, in particular those previously beneficiaries of the energy check.”
