On December 5th, Diablo 4 got a new endgame event that should be for all players looking for a new challenge. However, according to players, it is so time-consuming and hard that they are declaring the season over.
Not only are the individual levels of the dungeon quite challenging – many players find leveling the glyph that you get at the end to be too tedious. A player wrote on Reddit on December 6th: He thinks he’s done with the season. He sees no reason for the event.
Even the first levels are too difficult, says the player
What bothers him about the event? On Reddit on December 6th, the user “HipGamer” described his impression of the new endgame event “Abattoir of Zir” and explained there that he saw no reason for himself to take on the challenge.
In the post titled “I think I’m done with Season 2” he writes:
I have to give credit to Blizzard for creating an entertaining season and the surprise announcements […] made me play longer than I normally would.
Even though I have a level 100 Necro, I don’t feel compelled to use the “Abbatoir of Zir”[-Dungeon] close. […] I don’t have a problem with the fact that I never finish all 25 levels [des Dungeons] I’m going to do it, but not being able to do at least the first few is disappointing.
He also doesn’t want to farm through “terrible loot” for two weeks to get his build up to speed just so he can level the new strong glyph. He is a casual player and it is enough for him that he has brought his character to level 100, completed the season journey and the battle pass.
“For a lot of people, this is probably the end.”
What do other players say about this? In a comment, “HipGamer” added to his post on Reddit: “Seriously. I thought, oh yeah, AoZ will be fun, then I did it and thought, OK, it’s not worth the time.”
User “hitext” replies: “I literally logged in after a 3 week break, was excited to try out AoZ, made the seal, went in, got killed in one hit, and logged out. Enough of Season 2 for me lol.”
“lonnyjuce” writes in a comment: “It’s quite ironic that this content was probably intended to fill gameplay until the next season. But for a lot of people, it’s probably the end instead.”
“I did it the fourth time. […] Now that I’ve gotten the glyph, I’m tired of the second stage [des Dungeons] close. “It’s just not fun at all,” comments “ethan1203.”
What’s the deal with the glyph? The new Glyph “Tears of Blood” offers a huge boost to your damage. According to GameStar, the glyph can be leveled up to 200 times and promises a theoretical and multiplicative damage bonus of up to 1,000%.
Will anything change about it? Macrobioboi, like wudijo, is part of the team that creates Diablo builds for maxroll.gg. He wrote on This is not a fun or exciting gameplay loop to look forward to.
Developer Joe Shelly responds to this on X: “Thanks for the feedback! We are closely monitoring how players engage with this new event, including Glyph leveling, and discussing the options.”
So it remains to be seen whether the developers will change anything about the challenge in the dungeon and the grind required to level the glyph. Next up in Diablo 4 is Midwinter Plague, a holiday event coming to Sanctuary on December 12th:
