Pensions: reform or chaos

Claude Parera, Toulouse (Haute-Garonne)

It’s not Voltaire’s fault, it’s Macron’s fault! Admittedly, the government lacked pedagogy and transparency, but didn’t the unions, from the start, state loud and clear that there was no question of changing the retirement age? Was this an attitude peculiar to compromise? The fundamental question remains the same: is this pension reform necessary, even essential? If not, why have all governments since Michel Rocard tried to reform the system? If mathematics still makes sense, isn’t going from 5 contributors for a retiree to 1.4 in 2030 a problem? If the answer is yes, the use of 49-3 does not seem to me to be either authoritarian or abusive. Failing that, in a few years we will have a political regime that will not bother so much with respect for people and institutions. (“Let’s stop seeing work as in Germinal !“, by Nicolas Bouzou, L’Express of April 6).

Generalized antimacronism

René Magoga, Saint-Sauveur (Haute-Garonne).

Usually, I wholeheartedly approve of Abnousse Shalmani’s columns, but I was somewhat surprised by his prosecution against Emmanuel Macron. I am not a blissful admirer of Emmanuel Macron’s policies, but I believe that he has a more realistic vision than that of Jean-Luc Mélenchon or Marine Le Pen, at least in the medium term. And I have the impression that the systematic criticism of his policy has become a commonplace of the whole of the press. The systematic criticism of Western-style democracy is also becoming widespread. But by dint of demolishing, we risk finding ourselves in front of a field of ruins. Be careful not to wake us up, in a few days or years, to a funny surprise! The 20th century has given us many and varied examples of this situation. (“The broken promises of macronism“, by Abnousse Shalmani, L’Express of March 30).

The necessary reform of the professional high school

Philippe Durand, Toulouse (Haute-Garonne)

It is obviously necessary to adapt the training map to the economic needs of the country. But how to do it ? We are so far from it. France’s very high-speed plan thus plans to bring fiber optics to every French household. However, for this project of several tens of billions of euros, there was no anticipation of the needs and the companies had to set up their own training schools to adapt thousands of technicians to the many fiber optic professions. . It is time, in fact, to reform our vocational high schools and set up an efficient and winning sector for everyone. (“The necessary reform of the professional high school“, L’Express of March 23).

The dangers of TikTok

Claude Massicard, Chambray-lès-Tours (Indre-et-Loire)

Teens (or tweens) find what they’re looking for on TikTok and can’t find in mainstream media or classic literature from their teachers. In fact, TikTok knows everyone’s profile and can provide them with what they are looking for and not the way to build themselves to become a responsible adult tomorrow. Yes: in this world privileging individuality, the traditional media supports are with great regret threatened to disappear because “too” generalist and not offering enough the reflection of “me”. (“How TikTok is making teens addicted“, L’Express of March 30).

Why not a little optimism?

Pierre Poillet, Roanne (Loire)

I very much appreciate your journalists and editorial writers: stay the course! However, due to current events, their analyzes are often anxiety-provoking. Why not create an “optimistic” section, dealing with any subject and giving meaning to the future? A section that by opening L’Express, we would look for before or after reading the other articles?
