Now the daughter, Bianca Salming, tells us about the heavy news.
– It’s hard to see dad getting worse, she says.

Börje Salming is one of Sweden’s best hockey players of all time. The Swede was huge away in North America and played over 1000 NHL games for his Toronto Maple Leafs.

The tributes to Börje

On Wednesday came the heavy news that the 71-year-old had been affected by the incurable disease ALS. Earlier this year, Börje told Samling that he hadn’t been feeling so well lately, but that the doctors couldn’t find anything wrong.

“I have received news that has shaken the life of me and my family. The signs that indicated that everything was not right in my body turned out to be the disease ALS. In an instant, everything changes,” said Börje Salming in a statement to TT.

Since the announcement, the entire hockey world has supported Börje Salming. Several hockey profiles around the world have expressed their support, and in yesterday’s JVM meeting between Sweden and Switzerland, the Junior crowns played with the number 21 on the stick – Börje’s old jersey number.

Daughter Bianca’s words

The announcement has taken a toll on many. But hardest of all for the Salming family. To Hänt, daughter Bianca Salming tells about her father’s serious illness.

“It’s hard to see dad getting worse and worse. Terrible. My heart aches the most at the thought of how dad must feel inside,” she writes in a text message to the site.
