Hann won the SM in superior style and became historic.
Now the swimmer Victor Johansson is getting help from Nils van der Poel before the EC.
– It will be really fun, he says.

Victor Johansson recently became the first Swede in 18 years to swim 1,500 meters in under the dream limit of 15 minutes. For that he was rewarded with SEK 100,000, and afterwards the Swede told us that he had contacted Nils van der Poel before the competition.

Heard from van der Poel

He was inspired by the Swede’s training program, which he released after the Beijing Olympics earlier this year, and they discussed everything from diet to exercise. In just a few days, on Thursday, the EC in Rome starts and Victor Johansson wants to continue the collaboration with Nils van der Poel.

– When he released his training diary, I thought “Wow, here is someone who is more training crazy than I am. I have to talk to him and see how his thoughts and ideas go around training, he says to SVT Sport and continues:

– I saw someone with whom it clicked and who is this crazy about training and who is willing to do that little bit extra. We had a very good talk and I hope that we will be able to continue that cooperation in the future.

“Looks disgustingly good”

Before the EC adventure, Victor Johansson has loaded up in Spain. He describes that he has a couple of good weeks behind him and that his form could hardly have been better.

– So it looks disgustingly good. It will be really fun to see what this training can do on the podium. Normally, time goes by fast for me, but right now it’s going slowly. I just long to be on the podium, he says.

He goes to Italy with a good feeling.

– The gut feeling is as good as it gets. SM was clean a few weeks ago and it was very shocking how quickly it went. It will be a lot of fun.
