Benioff and Weiss now have one at Netflix new home port found. The science fiction series 3 Body Problem, in whose development they played a key role, will soon be launching on the streaming service. As the Hollywood Reporter reports, her next Netflix project has already been confirmed: Death by Lightning.
Death by Lightning: New series from the Game of Thrones creators about the assassination of the 20th President of the USA
Death by Lightning is a true crime series of historical proportions: it tells the story of James Garfield, the 20th President of the United States of America. The second important figure is Charles GuiteauGarfield’s greatest admirer and ultimately the man who killed him on September 19, 1881.
Michael Shannon takes on the role of the president, Matthew Macfadyen plays the assassin – two first class actors. Shannon has been shining in supporting and leading roles for years, from Shape of Water to Knives Out to Midnight Special. Macfadyen most recently starred in the acclaimed HBO series Succession.
The series is based on the novel Destiny of the Republic by Candice Millard, first published in 2011. Benioff and Weiss are producing the film adaptation. Mike Makowsky (Bad Education) holds the creative reins as series creator and showrunner. Matt Ross (Captain Fantastic) will direct the production.
When does Death by Lightning start on Netflix?
Netflix has not announced a start date for the series. Since we are still at the beginning of the project, we should not expect it to start soon. Death by Lightning is likely 2026 at the earliest arrive at the streaming service. You can stream all episodes of 3 Body Problem on Netflix from March 21, 2024.
