“It’s about making a statement.”

The Twitch streamer Veni is not only known for his streams, but also for his commitment to charitable causes. Now he has created his own event to draw attention to a very special campaign. In an interview with MeinMMO he tells us more about the background.

The Twitch streamer Rafael “Veni” Eisler is best known for his Minecraft streams. In addition to Minecraft, he regularly supports charitable events and now wants to draw attention to the “Wings for Life World Run”.

He plans to do this on April 28th. from 1 p.m., exactly one week before the run, to recreate it in Minecraft and complete it together with several streamers on Twitch. Also included are well-known Minecraft streamers such as BastiGHG and Let’s Hugo. You can follow the whole thing on Veni’s Twitch channel.

How does the event work? In a specially programmed Minecraft world, all participants start their run at the same time and flee from a moving game boundary. As with a real run, the goal is to cover the greatest distance. The game limit accelerates continuously until the winner is determined.

In an interview with MeinMMO, the streamer reveals more about the background to the event.

What is the “Wings for Life World Run”? The run takes place in several cities around the world, so-called flagship runs. But you can also take part from anywhere in the world.

During the Wings for Life World Run, a mobile finish line follows you – the catcher car. If you are overtaken, your race is over! The entry fee for the run goes towards spinal cord research, which aims to make paraplegia as a result of spinal cord injuries curable.

MeinMMO: Would you like to introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Rafael Eisler, also known as “Veni” on the internet. I have been doing social media with a focus on gaming for over 13 years. My main platforms are Twitch and YouTube, I would say, and I’ve been a Red Bull Player and Make A Wish Ambassador since 2023 and now also active for the Wings for Life World Run in Minecraft.

Twitch streamer wants to change the view of gaming as Miss Germany: “You can’t demonize it, but you can’t glorify it either”

Running for those who can’t

You are very active in the charity sector and also have your own organization, Charity Royale – what makes the Wings for Life World Run so special for you?

It is special because it is a charity activation in which people also all participate. It’s not a classic fundraising run, but rather a call for people to do something. At the Wings for Life World Run it’s just running for those who can’t. I’ve been there every year since the first Wings for Life World Run, since 2014.

It’s just such a unique atmosphere to run together with people, to see some wheelchair users overtaking you or being pushed and people taking turns and everyone giving full throttle again, getting the most out of themselves when the car is behind comes to one. It’s simply a very special event!

How did you come up with the idea of transferring the event to gaming and what were the challenges?

The idea has been around for a long time. I think for 5 years. But it was always the point that we had to meet requirements if we wanted to officially do something with the Wings for Life World Run. For example, if we say that this event should now also collect donations, then we have to think about how does that work, how do we implement it?

If we want to do something completely separate, then we still have to show some similarity. Finding that fine line between making it a cool event, exciting for both the people taking part and the streamers taking part, and at the same time proving this characteristic of the Wings for Life World Run, that’s the difficult thing.

But we managed that quite well with the format we have now.

Veni needs support for implementation

How did the planning actually go?

I had decided that I wanted to do something about the event. This year I’m also working with Lucas (DerBanko on Twitch), who codes for many other streamers, especially in Minecraft, and it was with him that I had the idea to implement this run.

Plus Maxi (Dweags on X), who I work with at other events anyway – the idea was born and we then implemented it as a team of three. But it is not an official Minecraft, Microsoft or Wings for Life World Run event. But that’s from us!

You say that you want to use your project to raise awareness for the run and ensure registrations. Do you have a special request that you would like to address to the community?

My main call would be to run. It doesn’t matter whether at a flagship run in a big city – if you still get a place, most of them are sold out – or in a small community at an app run event (via Wings for Life World Run), because there are groups there too and people run together in a running group.

You don’t necessarily have to do 5 kilometers. Because it’s about taking part and setting an example that you’re running for those who can’t. That’s what we want to give people.

We have registered a gaming team (via Wings for Life World Run) for the German-speaking gaming community in the Wings for Life World Run. We welcome every member who signs up so we can simply show what a big community gaming is at the actual Wings for Life World Run.

Thanks for answering the questions!
