Series fans who are still mourning the historical gangster drama Peaky Blinders – Gangs of Birmingham can warm up. In February of this year, creator Steven Knight is coming up with his next creation – this time on Disney+.

A Thousand Blows takes us into that Illegal boxer scene of Victorian London around 1880. In the rough East End of the city, Hezekiah Moscow (Malachi Kirby) from Jamaica finds himself surrounded by all sorts of dangerous characters in the ring, from where the criminal underworld is not far away. While the young talent is honing his martial arts skills, he clashes with the experienced boxer Sugar Goodson (Stephen Graham), with whom he also engages in relentless exchanges of blows outside the ring.
In addition to his best friend Alec (Francis Lovehall), Hezekiah teams up with Mary Carr (Erin Doherty) in London Leader of the female street gang The Forty Elephants. Just like the Peaky Blinders, this criminal group was real. From the 1870s to the middle of the 20th century, the women’s gang committed burglaries, robberies and thefts in the English metropolis.
