A new fantasy and offbeat series, to be seen in just eight hours, has won over critics. The episodes are all online on Netflix.
What are we watching on Netflix right now? Every week, the streaming platform offers new content to its subscribers, so it is not always easy to know which program to devote your time to, or which to avoid. Since August 29, however, a series that can be watched very quickly has seduced the French and international press, who highly recommend it.
British series created by Charlie Covell (The End of the F***ing World), KAOS completely reinvents Greek mythology by transposing it into our contemporary society. While discord rages on Mount Olympus and Zeus plunges into paranoia, mortals discover that they hold the future of humanity and that they are the subject of a strange prophecy. The series stars Jeff Goldblum (Jurassic Park) as the King of the Gods, Janet McTeer (The Menu, Ozark) in Hera’s, Cliff Curtis (Sunshine, Fear the Walking Dead) is Poseidon, David Thewlis (Harry Potter) is Hades and Nabhaan Rizwan (Station Eleven, Industry) is Dionysus.
You will have understood, KAOS therefore uses myths well known to the public to twist them with cynicism and black humor in an offbeat style that only the creator of The End of the F***ing World has the secret. And if we are to believe the press reviews, it works perfectly. The criticism is (almost) unanimous: KAOS is a success. The British media The Guardian even dares to call this “furiously fun” series a “masterpiece”.
For Allociné, “Kaos is one of those oddities that we like to watch from time to time”, while Télé Loisirs “is already calling for a season 2 of this offbeat series with dark humor”. For Libre Belgique, “this new Netflix series is a UFO that will take you on a very far journey”.
Composed of only eight episodes, each lasting one hour, KAOS can be easily binge-watched in a weekend or a few days, if you are in a hurry and looking for short programs. The entire first season has been available on the Netflix streaming platform for its subscribers since August 29, 2024.
