The wait will have been long, but it will not have been in vain. More than 10 years after Diablo 3, Blizzard Entertainment has finally released its expected Diablo IV. Beyond a very good reception from the press, the public also responded en masse. So much so that 5 days after its release, Diablo IV can boast of having crossed 666 million dollars in revenue in just 5 days of operation. A number that was obviously not chosen at random, since it refers to the devil, to Satan. This is a historic record for the franchise which has never experienced such a launch, especially since this episode is the first with a live-service that some feared. Blizzard takes the opportunity to reveal that players have already spent more than 276 million hours on the title, which is equivalent to more than 30,000 years. We do not know the exact number of copies sold, but given the turnover generated, Diablo 4 has probably already exceeded the 3.5 million copies sold of Diablo 3 sold at its launch. With such success, Mike Ybarra, president of Blizzard Entertainment, has reached out to send a message to gamers.
On behalf of Blizzard, we want to thank the millions of players around the world who immerse themselves in Diablo IV. Diablo IV is the result of our amazing teams working together to create and support genre-defining games, build legendary worlds, and inspire memories that will live on forever. We are humbled by the feedback, very proud of the team, and committed to listening to our players and ensuring Diablo continues to exceed their expectations for years to come.
The release of Diablo IV is effective since June 6, 2023 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, PS4 and Xbox One.
