EA has announced a collaboration with Nike. It is apparently planning to bring products developed with the technology “NFT” to the sports game series such as FIFA, NBA Live and Madden. While magazines covering cryptocurrencies are happily reporting the news, the international gaming press is fuming.
This is the announcement:
“Big step for Nike and crypto gaming”
How do crypto media react? Cointelegraph describes the collaboration as a “big step for NFT” and crypto gaming.
It is said that the NIKE NFTs are expected to become customizable, wearable add-ons or digital clothing items that players can buy and wear.
Nike would have already sold 97,000 of its first products, virtual sneakers called Our Force 1.
“Thought we already bullied them out of mainstream gaming”
How are gaming sites reporting the deal?
NFT-critical site Kotaku scoffed at the deal. It is June 2023, not June 2021. NFTs are already totally dead – instead everyone is now relying on AI.
One etches against Nike and EA, they only care about the money, both companies are known as “cash grabbers”. Kotaku celebrates not using the word “NFT” in the announcement.
Even PC gamers rub their eyes in amazement. The site says it’s actually successfully bullied “NFTs” out of mainstream gaming, which is probably for everyone’s best.
This is behind it: NFTs were considered a hot new thing among crypto investors a few months ago. With them, players should really own “items”. They should be able to be traded as unique collectible items and increase in value.
Suddenly, NFT projects shot up. Some influencers like MontanaBlack also tried to advertise the NFTs with quick deals, but burned their fingers.
Many gamers, on the other hand, have criticized NFTs from the start as being superfluous and far too expensive. This only means that gaming is less about the games themselves and more about their in-game shops. In addition, there are great doubts about the technical promises of the NFTs.
