In the latest Item Spotlight, MyMMO demon Cortyn shows you an item that you can use to drive your friends crazy in World of Warcraft – and have a lot of fun doing it yourself.

World of Warcraft is so full of items that probably no player can remember them all. However, an item will never disappear from the memories of your fellow players once they have become victims of it. We’ll show you the nasty interchangeable blaster – and how you can have a lot of fun with it. Mostly at the expense of others.

What is the Swap Blaster? The Swap Blaster is a usable item in WoW, but it does not deplete when used. It is not a toy, so it does not end up in your collection. So if you want to use the Swap Blaster on multiple characters, you’ll need to collect it multiple times.

How the Swap Blaster works is quite simple: you select a player in your party or raid and then use the Swap Blaster. After a short time, the device then fires and spontaneously swaps the position of both players.

What can you do with the swap blaster? Drive your friends (or secret enemies) insane. Because with the position change through the blaster you can put your friends in positions where death is almost guaranteed.

A special feature when using the alternating blaster is that the movement of the other player is not canceled. So if your target is walking when you fire the swap blaster, your positions will be swapped and the target will still be walking. And it is precisely this fact that can be exploited wonderfully.

For example, stand close to a chasm and choose your target. Now wait for the player to start moving and then fire the swap blaster. Important: When activating the blaster, your character will turn towards the target. You have to turn your character back towards the abyss during the casting time (e.g. turn around again while holding down the right mouse button).

If you do this correctly, both characters will switch positions and your target will run straight into the abyss and certain death.

If you’re a class with special movement effects – like portals or wings on the demon hunter – you can also use it to teleport other players to deserted islands or other places from which there is no return anytime soon.

It’s important to note that there are a few restrictions on the Swap Blaster. It cannot be used during combat and cannot be used in certain areas such as battlegrounds or even Mythic+ dungeons. However, it can be used in normal raids, dungeons or even the open world.

However, for the swap blaster to work, the target must be within 40 yards and in line of sight. A line of sight blocker (such as a wall) will prevent you from using the blaster.

How do you get the swap blaster? You can craft it if you’re an engineer. You need 50 Gear Spring Parts and 1 Temporal Crystal as well as Engineering from Warlords of Draenor at level 100.

Alternatively, you can also buy the swap blaster from the auction house, because other engineers offer it for sale. A special feature of the blaster is that the user does not need to have the engineering profession. The Swap Blaster can therefore be used by all characters.

Is there protection against the swap blaster? Yes. Anyone who feels too disturbed by the alternating blaster can easily protect themselves against it. For this you have to use a “Neural Silencer”. If you use that, then you are protected for 12 hours against the Swap Blaster and also spells like “Leap of Faith”. You can purchase the mute switch from the auction house or it can be in the Blingtron reward boxes.

How do you like the swap blaster? Do you like to annoy your teammates or are you more the victim?
