(Finance) – ITA Airways will operate tomorrow on first flight of SkyTeam’s Sustainable Flight Challenge. Flight AZ 110 will depart from Rome Fiumicino tomorrow 7 May at 14.05 arriving at Amsterdam Schiphol at 16.35.
First of the two flights with which the Italian company takes part in the international competition organized by SkyTeam, the AZ 110 will be operated with a Airbus A320 and will offer the flying experience more sustainable always on the medium range. The second flightthe AZ 608, on the intercontinental route Rome – New York, will take place next May 14 with a Airbus A330 departing at 10.15 from Fiumicino and arriving at JFK at 14.00 local time.
There Sustainable Flight Challenge (TSFC) of the SkyTeam alliance is a race that pits the aviation industry into competition,
accelerating the transition to a more sustainable future and the decarbonisation of the skies. It is a friendly competition that compares 16 airlines, committing them to operate some flights in experimental mode and test environmental protection initiatives, with the hope of making them the best practices for the future of aviation.
To carry out this experimental operation, ITA Airways has developed and integrated a series of extraordinary activities in coordination with all the departments involved: flight and ground operations, choice of aircraft and alternative fuels, sustainable catering, waste recycling, passenger experience. In fact, both flights will have zero environmental impact in terms of emissions from fuel,
neutralizing them thanks to the contribution of ITA Airways to some reforestation projects in Africa and South America.
