ITA Airways and Eni together for Aeronautical Sustainability

(Finance) – It has gone live “Joule Discovery Lab. A possible net zero future for mobility“The co-innovation project ITA Airways and Eni which aims to increase the entrepreneurial skills of the employees of the two companies and to build a new model of sustainable development between players in the national industrial system. The initiative is promoted by Joule there Eni school for business born to support the growth of innovative startups with a strong impact on decarbonization and circular economy and spreading the development of an entrepreneurial mentality throughout the organization.

The project was created following the start of Eni’s production of sustainable aviation fuels, which in the short and medium term represent a tool for significantly contributing to the decarbonisation of air transport; ITA Airways was the first airline to use them in Italy.

In the frame of Gazometer from Rome Ostiense, an industrial area that Eni is redeveloping to launch an open district of technological innovation on the energy transition, five teams made up of ITA Airways and Eni people worked for 3 days on the design of joint business models with a focus dedicated to reducing the impacts relating to the sector mobility, travel and aviation. To get to transform ideas into proposals, the teams applied design thinking methodologies, building a “future artefact”: the future version of the solution, to be placed in the 2050 scenario.

During morning the projects that will have the opportunity to be “incubated” by the teams of the two companies through a real acceleration path that will continue in the coming months were presented to the management.
