(Telestock) – ITA Airways welcomes with satisfaction theEuropean Commission approval for the sale of 41% of the Ministry of Economics and Finance’s shareholding to Deutsche Lufthansa AG.
The completion of the transaction is subject to the fulfillment of some conditions set by the European Commission for which a maximum term of four months from the date of the decision has been set.
Today at the Ministry of Economy and Finance a joint press conference was held between the Minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo GiorgettiDeutsche Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr and ITA Airways President Antonino Turicchiin the presence of the major national and international media, in which the conditions envisaged by the decision and the next steps of the operation were illustrated, which represents a very important milestone in the young history of the Company.
“The authorization received today from the European Commission, in addition to representing a virtuous example of consolidation in the air transport industry, constitutes a key step in the development of ITA Airways – he has declared Antonino Turicchi, President of ITA Airways – Once the conditions set by the Commission are met, the Company will be able to strengthen itself thanks to the entry of Lufthansa in the capital and realize the synergies by becoming part of one of the largest global aviation groups, thus guaranteeing the country greater connectivity”.
