“It would have been nice to have a heads up”

The Holiday Cup: Mini Edition has started in Pokémon GO. But the big favorite is no longer allowed to fight. Annoying for players who focused on this Pokémon.

This is the cup: The Holiday Cup: Mini Edition is a PvP mode in the battle league in which only monsters with a maximum of 500 WP are allowed to take part. Only the types Electric, Flying, Ghost, Plant, Ice and Normal are allowed.

This was the favorite: The normally useless Coloragle seemed to become the dominant Pokémon in this cup. On the battle league platform PvPoke it was identified as the best monster for the competition, we also reported on the potentially strong Farbagle in the cup.

Farbagle’s sudden power was due to the fact that you can only get it when you take snapshots of other Pokémon, and then Farbagle randomly pops into the picture. It then takes over the attacks of the monster that was actually photographed.

This means it can have extremely different movesets, some of which would have been perfect for the new cup.

But now it is clear: Farbagle will not dominate the Cup. Because although it actually fits into the Cup’s specifications, players cannot choose it. In the game, when you click on Coloragle, it says: “This Pokémon is not allowed in this cup.”

This is particularly annoying for players who have previously concentrated on improving their color game. Others are actually quite happy about it.

Coaches discuss unexpected suspension

In the Pokémon GO subreddit “The Silph Road” trainers discuss the banning of Farbagle (click here for the post on reddit). The specific reason for the ban is currently unknown, but it is clear that it was not clearly known in advance that Farbagle would not be allowed to take part. However, it has happened in the past that Farbagle was not allowed to take part in certain competitions.

The comments are accordingly. While some are in favor of the lockdown, for others it is unfavorable. Some examples:

  • “I just powered up a dog… Why is it so hard for them to just announce these things lol,” says user “Fueled System” (via reddit)
  • “I don’t feel bad for the people who have put together a color scheme over the last few weeks to dominate the Cup with a cheat mon, but I still think that Niantic should have made the ban clear from the start,” says user “krispyboiz” (via reddit)
  • “I was one of those people. I’m not sad because it was clear that the thing would have been broken, but a warning would have been nice,” said user zurrick (via reddit)
  • Similar comments continue to collect under the post. Other players say that they were in the process of improving a color eagle. Others say that they are glad that it is not allowed to take part in the cup because it would have ruined the balancing.

What do you think about the lockdown? Would you have liked to have used a color eagle or are you happy not to face him in the cup? Tell us in the comments. And more news about Pokémon GO can be found here: A pretty strong box is currently making many people excited.
