“It will take time”

Linn Persson impressed greatly and had his best season in his career.
But she did it in great pain and was forced to have double operations.
Now she opens up about the tough everyday life after the operations.

It was her very best season so far in her biathlon career. Lynn Persson really exceeded all expectations last season and impressed immensely.

Linn’s successful season

The Swede was in perfect shape for the Biathlon World Cup in German Oberhof during February and sensationally won two individual World Cup medals. It was the 28-year-old’s first individual medals in his career.

Persson also managed to grab two podium places at the World Cup and can thus look back on a very impressive season where she exceeded all expectations of her. And she managed to achieve great success despite immense pain throughout the season.

Persson’s nightmare

Linn Persson has long had problems with both a shoulder and a groin, which has affected her a lot both in training and in competition.
– The shoulder has been quite spongy, I haven’t had any real power in it, the national team Swede tells SVT Sport.
– It feels pretty good for this year to know that I won’t be able to follow a plan that everyone else does, but that it can still go well.

Immediately after the biathlon season, Persson therefore chose to lie down on the operating table for double operations, one operation on the groin and another on the shoulder. The doctors then found a hole in the abdominal wall which is now largely healed. But the shoulder surgery itself is still far from being healed and is expected to take longer than expected.
– They have laced up a cartilage flap that sits in the shoulder, which means that the bullet cannot move forward as it did before. Without it, that cartilage lip has been loose, says Linn in the interview.

“Will take time”

This has now had consequences for the coming season when the Swedish national team skater has to wait even longer to enter full training.
– Of course it will affect this season, I think that in the autumn she will be able to train normally again, then she will be able to run and so on, but just using the upper body will take time, says the physiotherapist Marcus Bystedt to the TV channel.
– Hopefully she gets less pain from this and can train more freely. In the last three years, we have had to parry the training and take the shoulder into account.

Another accident also occurred in March during the World Cup competitions in Holmenkollen, Norway. Where Linn Persson sprained her foot and it has not healed properly either, therefore she is forced to wear a supportive boot on her foot at the moment.
