The Deaflympics have been around since 1924, but they are not that well known. The Dutch Deaf Team does not fall under the Paralympic Games or the KNVB, but under the Royal Dutch Deaf Sports Association. That is why the amount had to be arranged through the KNDSB, but due to miscommunication, it turned out last month that the money was not available.

There are two requirements to be allowed to play football in the Dutch Deaf team. For example, players must be able to play football very well and have at least a hearing loss of 55 decibels. To prove the hearing loss, all players must submit a so-called audiogram.
