  • For the infamous Ius primae noctis (the “Right the first night“, after English nobles were allowed to sleep with a subordinate before marrying her) there is no historical evidence.
  • William Wallace and the heir to the Scottish throne Robert the Bruce (Angus MacFadyen) were political opponents for a long time. Bruce switched sides, but an insidious betrayal is unlikely.
  • William Wallace never slept with Isabella of France (Sophie Marceau), who in reality was ten years old at the time of his death and living in her home country.
  • Scottish warriors probably wore them during Wallace’s lifetime neither kilts nor war paint.
