After the new President of the USA, Donald Trump, took the oath ceremony in the US Congress, his first action was to abolish the border enforcement used for legal entry into the USA. A statement was made on the official page of the Customs and Border Protection Unit regarding the removal of the application.
APPOINTMENTS HAVE BEEN CANCELED
The statement said, “As of January 20, 2025, there is no longer an application that allows foreigners without documents to apply and make an appointment at 8 different southwestern border gates.” While the statements were included, it was reported that existing appointments were also cancelled.
When users opened the application, they saw that the application was no longer in use and their existing appointments were cancelled.
DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AT THE BORDER
Speaking after taking the oath, Trump drew attention to the problem of irregular immigrants in the country and stated that he would declare a National Emergency on the US-Mexico border, as in 2019, and prevent illegal immigration and deport these people.
Trump had noted that he would issue an executive order ending the practice that Republicans described as “catch and release”, which refers to the release of immigrants into the country to await their cases in court.
Trump, who called irregular immigrants “criminals” in his speech, also announced that he would send soldiers to the southern border of the USA. (AA)
