Israeli Army Radio included the statements of Military Intelligence Chief Haliva. Haliva said, “The beginning of the war was an intelligence error. As the Military Intelligence Department under my administration, we failed to warn about the terrorist attack carried out by Hamas.” he said.
Noting that “they failed in their most important duties”, Haliva stated that “he, as the Head of the Military Intelligence Department, bears all the responsibility for this failure”.
The Israeli official said, “We will investigate whatever needs to be investigated more deeply and comprehensively and draw conclusions. There is only one task now, and that is to fight and win.” he said.
HAMAS-ISRAEL CONFLICT
Hamas’s armed wing, Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, launched a comprehensive attack on Israel on the morning of October 7, called the “Aqsa Flood”.
While thousands of rockets were fired from Gaza towards Israel, Palestinian armed groups raided and seized the Beit Hanun-Erez Border Gate on the Gaza-Israel border.
Armed groups then entered the settlements within Israel from here, and the Israeli army launched an attack on the Gaza Strip with dozens of warplanes.
It was reported that 1,400 Israelis, including 299 soldiers, died and 3,968 Israelis were injured in the attacks carried out from Gaza.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that 3 thousand people died and 12 thousand 500 people were injured in Gaza in Israel’s attacks.
It was stated that 61 Palestinians died and approximately 1250 people were injured in the attacks of Israeli forces and Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank.
13 journalists also lost their lives in Israeli attacks.
In the clashes that started between the Israeli army and Hezbollah on the Lebanese border on October 8, 8 Hezbollah members, 2 Islamic Jihad members, 1 journalist and 2 civilians lost their lives.
