Esma Assad, the wife of Bashar Assad, the exiled Syrian regime leader, came to the fore with her health condition following allegations that she wanted a divorce. A report in the British press stated that Assad, who was diagnosed and treated in May, had leukemia again.
According to the news, doctors announced that Assad, who had a serious illness, had a 50 percent chance of survival. Another source speaking to the press stated that Assad’s wife was about to die.
HE SURVIVED CANCER ONCE
The news reported that Esma Assad was kept in isolation in Moscow, the capital of Russia, where they took refuge after the overthrow of the regime, and that her treatment continued. It was claimed that Assad went to Russia before the revolution to receive treatment.
Esma Esad was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018, and announced that Assad had overcome cancer in August 2019.
THE CLAIM THAT HE WANTS A DIVORCE
It was claimed that Esma Esad was not satisfied with her life in Moscow and decided to file for divorce and move to London, the capital of England. It was claimed that Esma Assad applied to a court in Russia and requested special permission to leave Moscow. Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitriy Peskov, in his statement, stated that the news that Esma Assad wanted a divorce “does not correspond to the facts”.
London-born British-Syrian dual citizen Esma Assad moved to Syria in 2000 when she was 25 and married Bashar Assad.
