“It was hard not to break down”: Tom Selleck’s all-time favorite Blue Bloods episode is one of the most violent

It was hard not to break down Tom Sellecks all time

As a series actor, choosing a favorite episode is not easy. Especially if the series has been running for more than 10 years, such as the police drama Blue Bloods – Crime Scene New York. Lead actor Tom Selleck can still name an episode. This is a series of shots fired at night (in the US original: The Job) from season 2. She demanded everything from the star.

In Tom Selleck’s favorite Blue Bloods episode, his character experiences the death of an ex-partner

Shots in the Night revolves around the police officer Danny (Donnie Wahlberg), who is attacked with his family by an unknown gunman. However, great emotional weight rests on the experiences of his father Frank (Selleck): He has to digest the death of an ex-partner, who became seriously ill as a result of his heroic work in the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

Tom Selleck told TV Insider his favorite episode:

September 11th was still fresh in people’s minds. […] We were allowed to show the World Trade Memorial as the first series after it was finished. […] It was hard for me [beim Dreh] not to collapse. Because Frank is too strong for something like that.

Shots in the Night deals with the meaning of September 11th in the memory of contemporary witnesses, including Frank in the series. As the episode reveals, he was in one of the towers of the Word Trade Center on the day of the attacks and suffers from what is known as survivor guilt syndrome. With so much emotional depth, Selleck’s special connection to the episode is understandable.
